5 Different Versions of Laksa You Can Actually Try in Singapore

One can trace its origins to the Chinese and the Peranakan, where it was created by adding coconut milk and chillies to a bowl of basic Chinese noodle soup. Currently, there are so many different versions of the laksa that makes it impossible to count. Nowadays, you can even find a more interesting way to enjoy laksa as some are served in claypot or steamboat version.

Regardless, a bowl of laksa is still gold, no matter what versions. Here is a list of our favourite versions of the laksa you can find in Singapore.

1. Local Version: 328 Katong Laksa

A traditional recipe passed down from the family. A taste like no other, loved by everyone. The founder of Katong Laksa, Ms Nancy Koh, took a period of six months through many rounds of trial and error, to create and perfect the recipe.

Of the 45 years of existence of laksa in Singapore, Katong Laksa has been a well-known favourite for the last 22 years, which was highly recommended by Yan Can Cook in 2001. It has even attracted the interests of celebrities around Asia who flew here from Hong Kong, Taiwan etc.

2. Penang Version: D’Laksa Singapore

D’Laksa was found by a food enthusiast born in Penang who has a genuine love towards Malaysia’s famous local cuisine from his birthplace which is ‘Asam Laksa’. This sparked a new idea on starting his own company where he can share his love for food with everyone.

Thus, the company has been established since 2012. With the help of the whole team, we made continuous development and improvisation to create this remarkable and exceptional savoury relish.

3. Sarawak Version: Sarawak Delicacy Laksa

They sell authentic Sarawak Laksa as well as other Sarawak delicacies like Kolo Mee, Kampua, and so on.

Sarawak laksa is unique from other laksa versions, they are sweet, spicy and sour at the same time. The flavour is slightly more subtle compared to the regular curry laksa, perfect for people who have a knack for sweet and sour dishes.

5. Steamboat Version: King’s Laksa Steamboat

They are husband and wife team committed to bringing our customers a wholesome Singaporean Steamboat Buffet experience. Founded in 2010, King’s Laksa steamboat has served thousands of Steamboat lovers who enjoy the variety of soup bases and food available.
