Another excellent lontong at Asam Tree!

A little while back, we visited a place with very delicious lontong at a coffee shop at Ang Mo Kio. Soon after, one of our readers recommended another stall, the Asam Tree Cafe, Bakery & Restaurant, also in Ang Mo Kio that was his mother’s favourite. As I am always game to explore new places, I made my way there to check them out one early morning.

I arrived at the said location and found myself looking at the entrance of the Fairprice supermarket. Wondering if I had gone to the wrong place, I double-checked the address, went around the corner and realised that it was in the same building, just passed the cashier counters.

There was a short queue, and some customers were already in there having their breakfast despite the early hours.

Their nasi padang looks good too!

I placed myself comfortably at the back of the line and waited for my turn. As I waited, I saw from the counter that there was also a wide selection of dishes other than the regular breakfast stuff. I made a mental note that I would come back to have their other food items.

When I got my order for lontong, I was amazed by the huge portion. The bowl was deep and filled to the top! As I started eating, I understood why our reader’s mother loves it. The taste of the curry was as flavourful as the other one we had, if not more, and the sweetness from the cabbage and carrots is excellent too!

Delicious!

The rice cake is fantastic also, just right, not too mushy, not too dry. Their chilli, generously added, really gives the meal a good kick that feels like it’s powering you up for the day. Excellent!
