5. Qi Xiang Chicken Pot 奇香鸡煲
Qi Xiang Pte Ltd has been growing since August 2018 – from a humble single stall selling chicken pot with manpower of four to a booming expanded stall with their speciality of stir-fried dishes and a strong team of 15.
The owners travelled all the way to China to learn about the original recipe and secrets of the famous dry claypot chicken: adding beer to the hot broth boiled in the claypot.

Subsequently, they brought the recipe back home to Singapore and made it their own. With the knowledge on local preferences, they tweaked the recipe: making it less salty and oily, and serving the chicken hotpot with generous broth, making it flexible enough for adding steamboat ingredients.

Some secrets to their signature are the chicken pot dish “Ji Gong Bao” in a uniquely aromatic and savoury sauce pork broth. The broth is made with more than ten spices and a mixture of different sauces put together. Beer is added during the cooking process, which creates the right consistency of the sauce. The spiciness and soup thickness is customizable based on your preference.

Bossi’s soup has a thicker consistency and their noodle boast a smoother texture. The Ban Mian includes traditional sweet leaves along with their special preserved vegetables that are fried together with their secret ingredients to enhance the flavour of the soup. The fish is also delicious when topped with fried anchovies and a dash of their homemade green chilly sauce.
