KL style wanton noodles in a quaint little neighbourhood.
Maybe it’s the seasons of gathering (Christmas, Chinese New Year) that is getting to me. But I find myself craving for many of the foods that I can only find at home (Malaysia) recently.

KL style wanton noodles and dumpling noodles.
It took me a while to hunt down the Sarawak laksa that tasted just like the ones I had at home, but it so well worth the effort when I found it. But that satisfaction was short-lived as I soon felt a little peckish for the KL style wanton noodles I had when I was schooling in KL. So after a little sleuthing, I was planted at one of the seats at “Seletar Corner” on a Sunday morning, digging into a bowl of KL style wanton noodles.

Situated at Seletar Corner.
When we arrived at the coffee shop, it had a light crowd, quite strange for a Sunday morning, you thought it would have been way more crowded. It is situated beside a nice quiet park with a peaceful vibe in a quaint and quiet neighbourhood. So the light crowd could be because everyone’s still in bed. But with the kind of breezy, calm, peaceful environment, I could imagine myself just sitting there with a nice cup of tea or coffee, relaxing. 😌

Formerly known as MS 36 Wanton Mee, now 72 Handmade Wanton Noodle.
The stall, 72 Cheng Hui Handmade Wanton, was formerly known as 36 MS Wanton Noodle, came highly recommended by my sister, who is staying nearby. We thought, given the popularity, we would have to wait long. However, our orders were ready in no time as there was no queue.

Wanton noodles, with red char siew.
At first look, the noodles definitely looked authentic. 👍🏻 When we mixed the bowl of ingredients together, it looked even more familiar with the black sauce coated all over what was in the bowl, especially the char siew.

Mouthwatering! 🤤

Red char siew.
The first bite was marvellous! The noodles were springy, crunchy, and the flavours fantastic! 🤤 The fried pork lard added a charming dimension to the dish. The char siew is the traditional red ones I had back in KL, oh so good!

Crunchy, springy noodles!
The deceivingly small looking wantons were actually quite substantial. The tasty meat fillings are hefty, tastily wrapped in wanton skins, and cooked just right, thumbs up to the wantons! 👍🏻

Meaty wantons.👍🏻

Crispy fried wanton.
The dumplings were equally good. When you bite into the dumplings, you can feel the fillings’ crunch, just like how it should be. The taste was excellent, not overpowering and worked well with the sauced noodles.

Delicious dumplings!
Overall, we had a good meal, and we finished it just in time as the crowd flooded in all of a sudden. A long queue had formed at the stall with many hawking for the limited number of seats. We left satisfied, and with me particularly happy to have found another spot to visit when I’m feeling homesick. 😊

The queue came in!
