Stave off your Thai food cravings at Sisaket Thai Food – อร่อย
One of my favourite activities when visiting Thailand is eating as their food is simply one of the best around! But with the current travel restrictions, it’ll be a while before we can travel there to enjoy their delicious delicacies. I was missing their food a lot.

I’m coming back for more!
Fortunately, there are several good options when it comes to satisfying our cravings for Thai food in Singapore. And one of them happens to be in a popular food spot in Singapore, Maxwell Food Centre.
Situated at a corner stall facing the main road in Maxwell Food Centre, the queue at Sisaket Thai Food looked a little subdued compared to the other famous eateries around the food centre. But make no mistake, you will be glad that you won’t have to wait too long to dig into their delicious, freshly cooked Thai dishes.

I ordered their Thai Basil Leaves Chicken Rice and made it a set, which comes with a side of Thai mango salad and a little bowl of tom yam soup.
They were pretty quick to serve up the order, a clear demonstration of their experience in dealing with crowds. Settling down on an unsheltered seat, I was ready to tuck into the spicy looking meal despite sitting in the noonday sun.

Basil chicken with a side of mango salad, and tom yum soup.
Starting with a sip of the tom yum soup was the right choice. The sharp, sour, zesty tang and spicy kick of the tom yum soup opened up my palate straight away, taking my appetite up a notch!

Tom yum soup! Delicious!
I went for the mango salad next. Wow! Sweet, fresh, and so delicious! It actually helped take the heat off the tom yam soup a little. The crunch of the raw mango immersed in the pleasantly sweet sauce is so exciting and invigorating! I think this luscious salad will do well on its own.

Fresh Thai mango salad. Sweet, refreshing.
Now for the main dish, the basil leaf minced chicken. What can I say? Just perfect! The flavours of the meat marinate, and the hot sauces work really well together, neither overpowering each other. By this time, the hot spices are working in overdrive.

Savoury, spicy, Thai basil chicken!
My perspiration is pouring down from the top of my head, totally out of control! But I am so enjoying this meal!

Fried egg on white rice.
Portion wise, I think it’s just right. And I think the set makes perfect sense. It’s got the right mix of a rich, savoury protein, an appetite-inducing soup, and fresh sweet salad. You get to enjoy the varied taste profiles across different dishes in that one single meal!

Highly recommended to stave off that Thai food craving until our next visit to the land of a thousand smiles!
