2. Shan Cheng 山城

The name of the restaurant, 山城 (Shan Cheng), is the Chinese equivalent for ‘City Of Mountains’, a name given to the city of Ipoh in Malaysia by its residences as its landscape is depicted by sprawling hills and mountains.

Shan Cheng’s mission is to bring the local taste of Ipoh to Singaporeans, Malaysians and all who missed Ipoh’s cuisine or would like to give the original Ipoh fare a try. To preserve authenticity, Shan Cheng directly imports ingredients such as coffee, Ipoh’s rice noodles or Hor Fun (河粉) and various sauces from Ipoh.

Notably, Shan Cheng’s house specials such as their Char Siew, Curry, Ginger Duck and Shredded Chicken Hor Fun are prepared from secret recipes of the founders’ mother. 3. Anson Town Singapore

One of the town attractions is a Leaning Tower of Anson Town which erected in 1885. Near the clock tower are some outdoor eateries serving some of Ipoh’s better-known hawker fares.

There are many Malay delicacies can also be found in Anson Town. These include ‘mee rebus’ Mastan Ghani, a boiled noodle dish served with a moderately spicy and sweet gravy, Mee Jawa, Nasi Kandar, Satay, Fruit Rojakand Soya Bean curd. The local Chinese community has many famous delicacies as well. One of them is ‘Heong Peah’ (Fragrant Biscuit), a crispy pastry layer outside and a sticky filling inside (also known as beleko).
