Take the Edge Off with Tea at Yixing Xuan Teahouse
Yixing Xuan Teahouse, located along Tanjong Pagar Road is this teahouse that has been around for more than three decades.
Apparently, they are known overseas as well, and tourists who visit Singapore will often come to their shop for tea appreciation sessions.

Tea revives you!
I purchase loose tea leaves from them regularly but never had a chance to just sit and have something there on my own.
It was a quiet mid-week lunchtime when I stepped into the cosy teahouse. There were just a couple of customers selecting their tea, teapots and teacups from the wall of wide-ranging tea products.
The environment was welcoming, with some light music playing in the background and the people going about their business. I was already feeling a lot more relaxed than before.

The friendly staff brought me to a table and took my order.
I’m usually a 香片, 乌龙 drinker but decided to have a go at the 白牡丹. The tea was served in an infuser cup with intricate designs on it, along with a little pack of butter cookies.
A flask of hot water was also prepared for me in a nice looking vacuum flask. It was meant for me to brew the tea again once I’m done with my current serving.

白牡丹… Nice, relaxing and refreshing cup of tea..
They’ve always provided tea leaves of pretty high quality to their customers, and the 白牡丹 I’m having is no different. The taste is floral, light and goes down smooth, I really like it. Surprisingly, the butter cookies that came with the order goes well with it.

Feeling relaxed…
Aside from tea, they also serve a lovely selection of dim sum food items. It’s not a full menu, but it’s just right for a snack or even a simple meal.
Not feeling up to having too much food, I just had a serving of their green tea fried pancake with red bean paste for lunch. The pancake was delicious and perfect for me.

They pretty much left me to my own devices during my visit, which was good. It was nice to have a quiet environment to do some work, gather some thoughts, and even a bit of reading as well.
I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to refill the flask of hot water after I used it up. Soon, without me knowing, a little over two hours have passed.
As I took my leave, I must say that it was overall, a wonderful and relaxing experience. I would definitely do this again.
